Circus Ladies Bake Sale

Circus Ladies Bake Sale

My Circus Lady friends and I, along with many of our kids, hosted a bake sale to benefit a local organization, The Friends and Family Fund for Southeast Fort Wayne this summer. We raised a ton of money, had an absolute blast, and did it in our own, Circus-y way. Sales of FoxSea products during the sale also benefitted the fund, and my pal Heather Shively even baked her almost famous “Mumma’s Little Baby Loves FoxSea Shortbread” for the occasion — a fave of mine, and anyone else who’s ever had the pleasure of this delightfully salty cookie. Our good friends Katie Jo baked goodies for us to sell, while Stephen J. Bailey showed up to take pix and conduct a few interviews. We had tons of generous visitors that day AND a bunch of families and friend groups hosted their own bakes sales across the city to benefit the same cause. There’s such beauty in the world, despite the ugliness…

The FFF, initiated by one of our own (Kristin Giant, seen below in the red skirt), “is a donor advised fund hosted at the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne. The fund has been designed to distribute power and financial resources to leaders and residents in Southeast Fort Wayne -- the most under-invested quadrant of our city. The fund aims to raise $1,000,000 to be directed into economic opportunities in SE that will build generational wealth and connectivity. No funding decisions will be made by anyone other than residents and leaders in Southeast, Fort Wayne.” Learn more about the FFF here.
