#GetFoxSea and get glowing!

S P F - Yeah

S P F - Yeah

Sun protection is an absolute MUST, though that was not the case when I was in my youth. As a child, I played on the beach all day, my mother praising my deep tan at the end of the summer (she called me her “little nut brown hare”, from a favorite book of ours). In my teenage-hood, I applied Crisco to my limbs while basking on the sand. I cringe when I think of these stories, as I carefully examine the age spots that have formed deep within my dermis. Yikes.

Thankfully, sun protection is much more popular these days, and modern formulas are downright luxurious. FoxSea doesn’t (and will likely never) include SPF products in the range, so I’m happy to share the brands and products I love and rely on for myself and my family. While I’m highlighting the products that get me through the summer months below, it’s important to note that sun protection is vital all year round. But ok, here are my faves:

I really could start and end this list with Supergoop! The entire line of products is phenomenal, and the company really pioneered this space with protective, nourishing and clean ingredients, as well as stylish branding and packaging. A few of my fav-o-rites: As soon as the Glow Stick and Glow Oil debuted, I made them mine. I was beyond excited I could blend sun protection with my affection for skin-loving oils. These are my beach must-haves, hands down. Last spring, I added Glow Screen to my daily skincare routine and I’m currently adding the Daily Dose Vitamin C serum to my cart.

One of my longterm faves is the Colorscience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield SPF 50. The application is easy and can be flawlessly applied throughout the day. It travels wonderfully in handbags and car glove boxes for on-the-go use.

It might be the 80’s child in me, or my adoration of surf culture, but I absolutely love Zinka Colored Nosecoat. Available in a range of fun colors, this SPF is meant to be seen, and I often paint stripes and circles on my kids’ faces, as well as my own.

One summer I got a nasty sunburn on my lower lip and I can’t even tell you how painful it was! Since then, I’ve been really careful to apply sun protection to my kisser. I’ve tried a few options over the years but the absolute best is by Coola. They now make a lip oil with SPF 30, which I’m excited to try this upcoming season.

In addition to topically applying SPF products, I also don wide brim hats, big sunglasses and rash guards. J. Crew always makes stylish options, and with proper care, they can last through a couple seasons (treat them as you do swimsuits). Last summer, I dabbled in wearing yoga leggings in the water, with meh results. I’m still on the hunt for a full length, protective swimming costume, Victorian-style. LOL.
